It’s been nearly 30 years since the Owens sisters and their aunts were last seen in Practical Magic, but the coven is back this September for a highly anticipated sequel, Practical Magic 2—and Emmy-nominated stars Joey King and Maisie Williams are along for the ride.
They’re set to play Sally Owens’s two daughters, Antonia and Kylie, who are now all grown up and learning about their supernatural ancestry.
King and Williams knew what they were doing, signing up for an iconic and much-beloved franchise, but as they told Chloe Malle onstage at the 2026 Teen Vogue Fest, it was still intimidating to be joining such a stacked cast.
Williams said it was a little bit terrifying, only because they wanted to be on their A-game and were working with legends.
Getting to learn and grow from Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman was fun and a little overwhelming for Williams.
The two actors first saw the original movie years after it premiered; King noted that she wasn’t even born when it came out in 1998.

King was nine or ten when she first saw it and was really scared.
Williams discovered the movie with her mom, and it conjures up lots of happy memories of her childhood.
King and Williams grew up onscreen, with Williams on Game of Thrones and King in TV commercials and Malcolm in the Middle, as well as Beezus and Ramona.
Bullock told her onscreen daughters to “go, run” as they evolved into leading ladies and producers, and assured them she was there if they wanted advice.
Watching Bullock and Kidman at work was “very exciting” for Williams.
The generations also learned some pop culture lessons from each other, with King and Williams teaching Kidman and Bullock about “wig” and Bullock teaching them “6,7.”

Given that Williams and King have been in the industry for a long time, they’ve also experienced the sometimes “clunky” transition that goes with growing up in the public eye.
Williams has used clothing to help her change her image over the years, and she believes that fashion can help someone move through different versions of themselves.
Williams recalled a conversation she was having with Candice Banks, her hairstylist on Game of Thrones, in which Banks said, ‘It’s OK to have fun, it’s OK to just enjoy this.’
King hopes to have longevity in her career, given she’s been “so lucky” already.
There are so many more things King wants to do with her time, especially as she gets older.
King and Williams will be leaning into the ’90s—especially Kidman and Bullock’s looks—as well as witchy and ethereal vibes for the press run.
